I like the idea of browser in a mobile device, and of course the iPhone or Ipod Touch with their touchscreen and multi touchscreen capability to zoom in and zoom out the web page, but you have to be pretty blinded by the tech not to see the shortcomings. First, the normal web page were not design for small screen resolution like that iPhone screens, and you always must zoom in unto the page just to press the Login button, for not making a false tap to another button, aren’t you? Doesn’t sound fun for me to zooming in just to click a button each time I browse a website. Otherwise you have a thumb size not more than a tip of the pointing pen, then you must agree with me this is a problem. Also, another problem that keep buggin me, when you place your finger over a screen, you’re obscuring what’s beneath it, so you’re working blind.
Then there’s an issue of ergonomics. Sure, it looks cool at first time to zoom in here, zoom out there, but did you ever caught in need to press a button and your hands are full? What I mean full here is you held the iPhone on your right palm and your left hand is not free to swipe the screen to do zooming so the button is big enough to be pressed. Yes, of course you can place the device first on the floor and bend over to zoom in and do the task there, but that is not cool isn’t it ? Tom Cruise on Minority Report must be laughing rolling on floor if he heard that. How easy to use my TV cable remote control cause I can press the big red power button without thinking even if she’s huggin me so tight and my right hand is busy on some other important task ? he he he …
Ok. Enough for crap, what I want to tell ya is nice to have a decent size of button on the site I open within a browser because the site was already optimized for mobile screen resolution, and still have a comprehensive reasonable size of contents when I open from my 24 inch LCD Desktop screen. Further more this feature must have capabilities to detect the browser client and support many user-agents such are: android, aspen, blackberry9500, blackberry9530, cupcake, dream, incognito, iphone, ipod, opera mini, webmate, webos (it’s easy to achieve this using php script). I found this iWebKit framework that was pretty good in face and since they use a plain html they can be easy to adapt without drawing a new curve. The code itself is still can be reduce more for faster performance, and I bring them here as a demo to myBiz3 second template for a sample.
And here is the rest if you scroll down for list of capabilities functions :
This dual template were powerful enough since I aready tested it without major problems, and this could be an added value for myBiz marketting since this day iPhone or iPod touch was no longer luxury goods. And if this combine with a webapps and a nice simple authorization protocol, the fruit of the labour can be store to Appstore on iTunes store to bait the fish as a free sample demo apps that can be downloaded for free trial. This one below is the installed webapps I created :
Ok. Good Luck myBiz !
