Although from a performance we can not expect much from this series, but the portability and longer durability will put a great smile on your face.
The internal 3G using Huawei E770 type chipset which can easily reach at the back of the notebook. The door panel can be open with a sliding slot even with one hand, and shove it in the sim card without any tools and any difficulties at all. I like this ergonomical factor. The door panel itself had a hidden switch that will disable the 3Gmodem devices just in case you forgot to disconnect the device to change the sim card. Neat and clever solution to preventing a losing data for unawareness users.
I have updated the Linux ARCD for this model without any difficulties, just a kernel and kdebase dekstop to meet some standard and also to make the internal 3G modem to work. And because the 90% Huawei series can be easily recognized with usbserial since kernel 2.6.22 with options.ko library module, sure this is not a big problem for KLIXs. Shove it in my telk*mflash simcard into the sim container, open the network center, set up a new GPRS/Edge/3G connection, fill in the pin number, and finally inputting the AP Name, and … voila … connected to the internet just in a seconds. No need to modprobing usbserial with vendor and product code at all.
The heat dissipation and ventilation on this barebone case also have my thumbs up, because at least I pushed this barebone to the limit for nonstop 3 days works without a single shutdown and act as my gateway router … he he he. It always nice to have an unlimitted internet broadband connection at home for 24/7.
